Walton - SM Nazrul Islam laid to eternal rest
SM Nazrul Islam, founding chairman of the country's leading electrical, electronics and home appliances manufacturing and marketing company Walton group, has been laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard in Tangail.

He was buried at the family graveyard of Tangail's Gosaijoair after the third namaz-e-janaza of the deceased was held on Azim Memorial High School playground in Tangail Sadar upazila after Asr prayers on Monday.

Thousands of people from his locality came to pay their last tributes to him after his body was kept at the school playground at 1:45pm.
Earlier, the second namaz-e-janaza of Nazrul Islam was held at the premises of Walton Microtech Corporation at Chandra in Gazipur around 12:30pm and the first janaza at the corporate office of Walton Group in the capital's Bashundhara residential area (Plot-1088, Road-80 ft-2, Block-I) at 10:50am on Monday.

His body was flown to Gazipur by a helicopter for second namaz-e-janaza.

Following the janaza, tributes were paid with wreaths to SM Nazrul's body on behalf of the district and upazila administration.
SM Nazrul Islam breathed his last while undergoing treatment due to old age complications at the capital's Apollo Hospital around 9:40pm on Sunday. He was 93.

Walton Group and Risingbd family expressed deep shock at the departure of Walton Group's chairman SM Nazrul Islam.


Meanwhile in a message, a general holiday was announced for Walton Group on Monday over the departure of its founding chairman.
