National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman and Senior Secretary, Internal Resources Division (IRD) Md Nojibur Rahman has inaugurated several new models of Walton products including Intelligent Inverter technology air-conditioner and fridges.
The NBR Chairman is visiting the Industrial Park of country's leading electronics, electrical and home appliances manufacturing company Walton at Chandra of Gazipur.
Md Nojibur Rahman has inaugurated ultra-modern technology based Walton products which include new models of refrigerator, air conditioner, LED television, remote-control table fan etc. Among the products are, Intelligent Inverter technology based air-conditioner and refrigerator, glass-door technology based refrigerator, remote control table fan and Next generation Quantum Dot Plus technology’s SpectraQ TV along with three other new models of television.
After the inauguration, the NBR Chairman visited the well-decorated product display center of Walton. He also talked with the officials of Walton R&D (Research and Development) and Design departments.
Earlier, the NBR boss reached at Walton Hi-Tech & Micro-Industries premises on Sunday noon.

The current National Board of Revenue (NBR) led by Md Nojibur Rahman has taken various innovative steps. Tax dialogue with partners, expansion of Tax fair in district and upazila levels, VAT fair, digital Tax service centre, VAT Day, International Customs Day and inauguration of call centre under VAT online progamme are among the innovative steps taken by the present NBR. The present NBR is working diligently to build up NBR digital and free from harassment to enlarge tax area and to encourage the taxpayers.
The NBR has successfully implemented the process of submitting Tax return through online from this year. With the strong leadership of Md Nojibur Rahman, the number of taxpayer has crossed 27 lakh, which is very near to the target of 30 lakh, declared by Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith.
The revenue earning in the 2013-14 fiscal year stood to Tk. 120,820 crore due to the diligent work of the NBR. The amount stood to Tk. 155,000 crore in the 2015-16 fiscal. The target of revenue earning in the current 2016-17 fiscal has been set at Tk. 203,152 crore.
The country's leading electronics giant Walton has rewarded as the Best Taxpayer by NBR for paying highest amount of Tax following proper regulations. This year, the NBR has rewarded 5 companies in the farm category for paying highest amount of Tax. Among whom, Walton Micro-Tech Corporation received first and Walton Plaza second awards. The NBR also provided Tax Card and Certificates to Walton.
In addition, Walton Plazas in 29 districts across the country also honoured with highest VAT payer awards by NBR. In the business category, a total of 49 enterprises, of which 29 were Walton Plazas, received district level highest VAT payer award.
Moreover, Walton has also been rewarded as the best VATpayer, at the just concluded 22nd Dhaka International Trade Fair-2017, depositing the highest amount of Tk 3,603,899 as VAT. Besides, NBR also honored and awarded Walton crest and certificate as highest amount of VAT paying organization.
