Walton - Walton’s Primo smartphones being sold like hotcakes

New smartphones belonging to Walton Primo series have generated unprecedented response in the country’s mobile handset market, sources at Walton Hi-Tech Industries Ltd said on Saturday. Walton Primo series’ handsets have become very popular among mobile phone users, particularly young and third generation (3G) users in Bangladesh as these are equipped with all kinds of up-to-date technological facilities, they said. Officials at the Marketing Department of Walton Cellular Phone Division said four handsets belonging to Walton Primo series are now available in the market. These are known as Walton Primo, Primo R-1, Primo G-1 and Primo F-1. Of them, three handsets--Primo R-1, Primo G-1 and Primo F-1—entered the local market on January 30 last.

However, sources said all the sets were sold much before the anticipated time. It resulted in a shortage in supply in the local cellphone market. Now, manufacturing of Walton Primo series handsets is going on in full swing. It is expected that the new handsets will be available in the market soon.Engineer Parvez Ahmed of Walton Cellular Phone Division said attractive designs and affordable prices of Primo series smartphones have attracted the 3G mobile phone users most. Users are getting latest facilities including Skype and Viber on these GPS and 3G connectivity equipped smartphones.The operating system of these handsets is Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Features of Primo R1 handset include 4-inch WVGA (480x800 pixel) display, in which, users will get IPS and capacitive screen (multi-touch) facilities. Owing to the IPS facility, users will be able to see images and videos on the display clearly even from 80-degree angle. It has 1.21 GHz dual-core processor and 8 megapixel auto-focus camera, along with 512 megabyte RAM, 4GB internal memory and 8GB (free) external memory, which is expandable up to 32GB.

Primo G1 smartphone’s features include 1 GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch WVGA (480x800) display. It has IPS and capacitive touch-screen (multi-touch) facilities. Besides, the Primo G1 handset has 5 megapixel auto-focus camera, along with 512 megabyte RAM, 4GB internal memory and 8GB (free) external memory, which is expandable up to 32GB.

On the other hand, features of the Primo F1 handset include 1 GHz processor, 4-inch WVGA (480x800) capacitive touch-screen and 5 megapixel auto-focus camera, along with 512 megabyte RAM, 4GB internal memory and 8GB (free) external memory, which is expandable up to 32GB. Three back-covers of different colours are also provided with the Primo F1 set. Walton’s Deputy Director (Cellular Phone Division) S.M. Rejoan Alam said, “We have been receiving unprecedented response after releasing the Walton Primo series’ smartphones in the local market.”

“Walton smartphones are being sold as hotcakes in the market because of their quality and affordability,” he also said. It is learnt that Walton is contemplating release of high quality smartphones in the market in the context of their growing demand among mobile phone users in Bangladesh.
